My Dad passed away the next morning October 19. He decided to go to Heaven rather than go to Sunday School, my Mom said. Quietly and without pain he slipped away. The Funeral was a great tribute to his life and tears, stories and laughter were all mixed. Molly came from school in New York. Both Emily and Giles were able to come and I stayed for 2 weeks. It was a good 'family' time. Just trying to get caught up at school, took me 2 weeks, but quickly got back into the routine.
Emily and Giles came to the Springs and we spent Thanksgiving Day with the Hardcastle's. Molly is at Sea. She is assigned to a MV Jean Anne a HUGE vehicle transport ship. She has all ready made one trip around from San Diego, CA to 3 of the Hawaiian Islands. She starter her second trip the day before Thanksgiving. We go an email from her and the cook had smoked a turkey for the crew for dinner....otherwise it was a regular work day. She has Sunday's off to work on her Sea Project Requirement from the Academy. It is more lengthy than a Doctoral Dissertation.... She will be on the Jean Anne at least until January and hopefully can talk the ART into letting her stay until March.
So tomorrow I head back to school after being off the entire week of Thanksgiving. Three weeks and then the Winter Break....I think I would like to retire and be off all the time.....not possible at this time, however....
So much to be thankful for........

THE ROAD TO HEAVEN
My Dad is on the road to heaven. Jesus will be coming soon. The Nurses at Hospice called this morning (Sat.) and said that Modeling has begun. It is a Medical term when the circulation is being pulled away from the extremities and brought up to maintain the heart and brain blood flow. It is well pass his knees and up his arms. He is unrespondsive and Mom told him once again that we all love him and it is time to 'go to Heaven.'
There are tears of sadness, tears of JOY and tears of jealousy. WHY JEALOUSY???? Because sooo soon Dad will meet JESUS FACE TO FACE. Then he will see his Mom, Dad, sister Hazel that died at the age of 15 from Luekemia, his brother Harold and sister Vera. Gramma Rose, my Mom's Mom, Uncle Hubert...that is just the immediate family.....then you start on the Church Family.....Gramma Jean baby sitter for Emily and Molly in DM, her husband Harold, Jim King, my father in law, my brother in law Ron Weege, the girls Great Gramma Glennola Stanton. The list can go on and on.
My Daddy always said about his faith: If I have lived this life following Christ and there in NO heaven....then I have been a better man, better husband and father in this world. However, if there IS a heaven and everything that I have been taught about God IS TRUE......I AM A WINNER EITHER WAY............PRAISE GOD!!!!
THAT'S RIGHT, DADDY.....Because there IS THE ONE GOD AND FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST THROUGH THE HOLY SPIRIT and there IS a heaven .... you are the WINNER and so am I. I will be there with you soon. Mom, I, Emily, Giles and his family, Molly....... 'Soon and very soon, we are going to see the KING JESUS."

TEACHING, LIVING AND MY DAD
Teaching -- keeps my mind off of listening for the phone call. I am ready to leave for Iowa at any time now.
Living -- as before, Why does life go on and not stop when death or the death of a marriage occurs?
My Dad - he is comfortable, medicated when necessary, eats when he asks, squeezes Mom's hand and loves to hear her voice. This week he was transferred into the Residential Hospice Care. He didn't have to change rooms, just the paper work. Medicare notified Hospice that they have accepted his application and will pay for the care.
Mom's special time is in the morning. She reads the Bible to him, he is surrounded by Worship Music all day, and says, "Now Ernie, when Jesus comes, I want you to go with Him. He will stay with us too. It is OK with me, Sharon, Emily and Molly."
His blood pressure is fluctuating and most of the times he is sleeping. What a BLESSED ASSURANCE of a faith in JESUS CHRIST!!!
I AM AT PEACE!!!! BLESSINGS

New York, New York
I had a great time at Kings Point seeing Molly. It was different this year. I flew through Denver and met up with 9 other parents going to USMMA. A new Mom that I am mentoring ended up in the seat across from me. What fun! She was meeting her 80 year old Mother for the weekend.
Kim, her daughter, is a Plebe. We have many things in common and I sure enjoyed being with them on and off during the weekend.
Friday I worked at the Parents Booth and attended Molly's Economics class. Had lunch on the lawn and dinner in the Mess Hall. Enjoy with her friends many of the 'eye candy' Brothers that attend with her. Enjoyed a beautiful sun set across the Water Front and Sound.
Saturday, I got to sleep in because Molly had Watch from 8-Noon. I caught up for lunch and the first half of the football games. Hurricane Hannah was blowing by and there was quite the rain. We watched the second half in her room....something like 7 inches of rain stood on the field as the lost the game. We headed back to the hotel and a pizza.
Sunday morning we waited for Joyce, a gal that I was best friends with and graduated from High School with who lives in CT. She drove down and we headed for the train to go into NY City. We got off at Penn Station and began to walk up Broadway. I was the typical tourist with my camera. We had fun at the M&M's store...3 floors of candy and anything you could imagine with M&M's on it. Across the street was the Hersey's store. Much smaller but just as much chocolate. Actually, I bought NO candy, but other merchandise. On up to the Marriott hotel that has a place where you can buy Musical/Play tickets. I choose to see The Fantastick's. It premiered in 1960, back in 1980 and revised off Broadway last year. A very small intimate theater...you could reach out and touch the actors. We rested our feet and enjoyed a Snapple. After all, it was the Snapple Theater. We had time to go to lunch at a unique Irish Bar/Restaurant. I had the BEST Pastrami sandwich and yummy french fries. We were tired, so I hailed a cab, like you see in the movies.....LOL and rode back to Penn Station. We got a coffee at Border's and waited for the train. The train was packed as there was a NY Mets baseball game. The train goes by Shay Stadium where they play. It was quiet then after all the fans got off and we reached Great Neck. Had a sandwich with Molly and then Kim/Tamra and Grandma Dotty picked us up and we went back to campus. Lots of Hugs and Kisses.
I flew back to Colorado on Monday. When I reached Denver there were messages waiting for me that my Dad had been taken to the Hospital. His condition has declined and on Sept 29 was moved into Hospice Respit Care. He is ready to go 'home' -- Heaven and Mom has chosen to let him go with dignity. God keep us all in HIS care.
Blessings,

SUMMER HAS ENDED...TOO ABRUPTLY, as usual
SUMMER ENDED......Well, I did get my college course completed, mailed and graded. The Prof. asked why I didn't go for the A.....I was tired of sitting at the computer all day. I did take off any time that I could, but it had been a long 4 weeks. I have also learned that I like learning INSIDE a class room with PEOPLE. The week before I went back to school, I attended 2 workshops put on by my District....2 of the best that I have attended within the last 5 years. I took away many useful ideas that I could begin with the first day of school. After 38 years at this experience, there is really not too much NEW.....just recycled with a new label on them. These classes were refreshing........
So, SCHOOL HAS STARTED. I went back to meetings, meetings, and more meetings....3 days of them. Got my room put together and met many new staff members. We have a good crew, no dead weight is visible. The kiddos came on Thurs. August 7....Yes, we start way too early. Our District, with pride, has the most contact days in this region. It looks from our State testing that our District has reach a leveling point. So now the State is focusing on Individual not Grade Level reporting....this will help the kids and out District reporting. So many of our kids are Military and we had a turn over of 52% last year....that included kids coming in and going out. It's difficult then to track kids over the years. All my classes are Basic classes in the fall. I do get quite creative teaching the same lesson 5 different, entertaining ways; otherwise, I get bored with what I am doing.
Now that I sit at a computer off and on ALL day, when I get home I do NOT want to sit in front of this one to write. I will get back into the habit of writing once a week.
I am getting ready on this day off to head to New York to see Molly at USMMA. It is Parents Weekend. She will have more time off this year, not being a Plebe. We will be able to go into NY City either to see a play, musical or sight seeing. I haven't been to the City since I was 18. Another adventure!
Every thing is going well adjusting to new med's.

STILL SWIMMING -- NOSE DEEP
It has now been 3 weeks and I am STILL swimming nose deep in Blogs and Wikis.........This hopefully will END on this coming Saturday, July 26th when I will print and send in all of my course work. This is more than I wanted to do for a 3 hour course. I think that I would rather be in a classroom with interaction form the teacher and other students. It has been different. When I called the instructors in Minneapolis, Julie was VERY helpful in the 4 times that I called that one day. I am TIRED of sitting in front of the computer for 6-10 hours a day. UGH! I am ready to go back to having my computer to be just a 'social' connection to others. My typing accuracy has improved and thank God for spell check!!!!!!!!
I am ready to MOVE ON! 6 more days!

Weblogs, Wikis and Podcasting - NOSE DEEP
HELP! I am deep in this computer course and can hardly keep my head above the impending doom of the deadline. This has been interesting BUT I won't be able to use any of it in my computer classes. It was great learning all about these topics BUT now the application component can NOT be applied.......UGH! I will just have to make it all up. That to me is a waste of time.............
It was great to have Molly home. On one of the Sundays, Emily, Giles, Deb and Molly all came to church. It was the first time in 3-4 years we were all together. Molly spent 3 days with Em in Denver and then it was over, way too quickly.
Gotta run.....studying is calling me in my nightmares.

Where Did June Go?????
May 28 - June 12 I was in water soaked Iowa.....2 feet higher than the Century Flood of 1993!! I certainly enjoyed seeing family and friends. Thank God for Janice, Dee and Lynne--they give me such good perspective and accept me for who I am becoming. The pull out sofa is NOT missed, but it was good to see family.
Upon my return, a long time friend flew in from California and stayed 3 days with me before moving on to see her parents. Her father suffers from Alzheimzers and my Dad has Dementia, many of the same difficulties. I learned a lot from her and it was good to catch up. The last time we had seen each other was in 2004. I love that kind of friendship that can be kept over time...even without continual contact.
In Iowa, Molly called and said that Summer School had been set forward a week and could she come home to Colorado.....SHE DIDN'T HAVE TO ASK TWICE!! Book it, kiddo. She was home from June 17 - June 29th. Before there was no way that she could have come, so this was such a blessing that all of us enjoyed -- 11 days. Just 'time down' and time with Emily and Giles....Physics 2 lie ahead over the next 4 weeks. The 2012 class will come into the school on July 10th. Molly turns 21 on that day, but will keep the birthday quiet so that others don't bug her that day. It is safer! LOL!
I am sitting up a schedule for myself. I am taking a 3 hour computer course so will work on that from 9-1, take a 2 hour lunch, then 3-6 and read in the evening. Each hour should be 15 hours of work. I am hoping that is not true. This is so that I can re-certify my teaching license in August of 2009. OF COURSE, time will be taken off for lunches and movies out with friends....wink!

BLURR
This month has rather been a blurr....After Ronnie's service, I was notified that a Wedding I was a Coordinator at, one of the bridesmaid's brother had been shot and they were bringing him back to the States from Iraq. He passed away and will be a 'brother' that I will enjoy meeting in Heaven. Knowing Christ as your Personal Savior leaves NO DOUBT as to where you will be when you leave this fragile life behind. God is sooooo NOT willing that any of us should perish and be separated from Him throughout eternity..
I did battle a bout of Vertigo in May and the Dr. tried just a steroid this time....no infection in ear or sinus. It worked quickly and after removing a big hunk of scare tissue from around the tube in the ear, WOW what a difference! The pressure was gone there. Missed 2 days of school and NOW tomorrow is the LAST DAY of the 2007-2008 school year.
I just attended the Recognition/Retirement Tea this afternoon. I was given an Apple Key Chain for 15 years of service to this District.....You may roll your eyes too. At least they keep track of the time. I will frame the certificate and put that in my room. Parents and kids like to see those things. At 20, I will get a brass apple and then when I retire a brass School Bell mounted on a wooden base with your name, dates, and Retirement. Maybe I can get both of them at the same time......
I may not get back here until I get back from a visit to Iowa and my parents. That will be around June 12....Maybe I can hook up with a computer. I have chosen to fly because of the high cost of gas. I have all ready saved $60 on the outrageous plane ticket = $537. I booked it in March.
Blessings

Sadness
I am saddened today with the report of close family friends whose son was killed in Iraq this week. Molly and Ronnie went through grades K - 12 together and Emily was a good friend of his older sister Samantha. I admire his mom Susan for leaving an abusive marriage, returning to College and getting her Degree in Spanish. She has taught now for 8 years. Through this all, she raised 3 great kids. Then she met that one man that thought of her first and loves her dearly. We all rejoiced at their wedding....Scott and Brian joined the Tucker's and life was blessed. After Emily and Sam graduated we would run into each other at school events but were not as close as those other years. Daisy, the middle daughter, was a year ahead of Molly and Ronnie.
Ronnie??? What a character... Molly and he took different paths, he became such a striking young man. FUNNY!! beyond measure....such a HAM and JOKE-STER!!! Such an infections laugh and you knew he had had probably planned and executed the joke, but there was NO way that you could pin it on him.....Now gone...way too early at 21.
God you will Bless, Protect and Keep this family.....You are covered in my prayers.

SPRING??? What"s That???
NOPE.....not to be too much seen around the Rockies....I am ready for the 70's and sun. We still have snow, sleet, groppel, and cool temps. 30's in the morning and mid 60's. Almost warm enough for NO coat, but not...It usually moves right from late winter to summer here. I have broken out the skirts and capris on a limited basis.
School moves steadily to the end. Just 4 more Mondays, 4 more Tuesdays, 4 more Wednesdays, 3 1/2 more Thursdays, and 3 more Fridays with kiddos. Then one Friday where we close up the rooms and turn in the keys if we don't want to go back and work in the summer. (HUH??) BUT then who is counting........???
I am planning to fly back to Iowa to visit with my parents and friends. Not being able to drive the 14 1/2 hours at one time, the cost of hotel, gas, food....flying was about the same price. Who knows what gas would be by then...my Volvo has a small turbo and gets GREAT gas mileage, but I am all ready paying $3.59 a gallon. In town I average 29-31 mpg. and on the Interstate 35-39. It is just the initial OUCH! at the pump that gets me. LOL! I will be in Iowa May 28 - June 12. Better than July! I always liked June better...a smidgen cooler, less humid.
Emily celebrated her 24th birthday on the 24th!!!!!!!! I remember how upset she was when Molly hit that milestone at 10 on the 10th. She was moanin' and wailin' she would be 'dead' by the time she would get to 24.....and now here it is. She gave her kiddos at school a test and then took the next day off with Giles and they had fun 'playin' hookie'.
Molly has had to drop Crew rowing. It is for the best. Now she is getting creative as to keep physically fit. Besides the regular sit ups, etc. she is running through the beautiful landscape that surrounds the school. Parks and forest, residences and along the New York Sound. She has had the warmer temps. and 'Spring has sprun' there. Cherry trees have blossomed outside her window, grass is getting green and flowers are sneaking up. On Monday 4/28 the Dress Blues for winter will be put away and the Dress Whites will appear again........Ah a true sign of Spring! Oh by the way, Molly is Welding.........YEP one of her classes. They were putting together a diesel engine this week also....WOW.
I get to Grammi sit for Evangeline tonight. Yeyeyeyeyey, playtime! I think I will take a nap to be ready for that....LOL
Reflection: GOD can take what was meant for my destruction and turn it to VICTORY!!
BLESSINGS!!

More Often
I am trying.....now that I have sent out my new blog spot, I had better keep up on it.
School: I have a quote by Oswald Chambers, a great preacher, who talked about the 'drugery of routine'. That is where I am at at this time of the year...but he concludes that this is where 'we learn to live by the power of God.....' in the drugery of routine... It is being a typical Spring in the Rockies--rain, snow, grapple, sleet, wind--in any combination! With more snow this year there have been TOO MANY grey days. I do suffer from seasonal (grey days) depression. So I am MORE THAN READY....for the sun and warmer temps. I just continue to have to wear my heavy winter coat....UGH! As far as classes and kids...typical Middle School, that never changes.
Molly is going into 'The City' (New York) to see a play and go to dinner. Her roommate Jesse was able to get the tickets from the school. That will be a nice treat after a heavy week...5 tests... and 'life' at the Academy. I am soooo proud of Molly. As situations happen, her character and integrity tested, she is remaining true to her faith in God and herself. What a woman of God she is learning to be.
Emily and her 'other Mother' (Giles' Mom-Deb) and I met in Castle Rock, Co today. It is about 1/2 way between our homes in Arvada and Fountain. There is a WONDERFUL OutLet Mall there. We shopped, talked, ate lunch, talked, and talked and talked. Found some good bargins. Emily brought me the Wedding Pictures that I ordered. YEY! Now it is time to look for a special album and start saving for the framing of the 16X20 of Emily and Giles.
I have exciting news. We have a new Pastor of our church. He actually has been in Colorado Springs and doing a Church Plant.....right in our building!!! We were giving them our space on Saturday evenings. NOW his congregation will be merging with us......YEY new family of Christ! Our former Pastor resigned in Jan so we are glad that the process did not take long in finding someone new.
More next week....Reflection: Although 'Life' is happening all around...lots good, but some not, MY GOD IS IN CONTROL and He holds those I love and pray for in the palm of His hand.....

Has It Been This Long
So I have finally returned....No I was not taken away by aliens....they are alive and well in Roswell. I am here!
In February, Molly was able to come home for trimester break. I took off a day and she went to see Emily and speak to her school classes. Grades 1, 2, 3, 4, and 6th. She wore her uniform and spoke about the USMMA, being a patriot, the pledge, and the military. What an eye opener for all.
Emily and Giles are settling into married life. After a month on a fruton, they made their first purcash as a couple of a 'real' bed. It took a few nights to get use to, but is joy to both now.
Molly has started Crew rowing season again. She has interesting classes: Welding, Swimming, Celestial Navigation, Physics, and a few more...quite a lot on her plate. It is great to talk to her every day and be a part of her life.
I have been Grammi Sitting for a couple of friends babies. It takes Giles and Emily off the hook of having a baby for me to play with......HA! These little girls are such a joy. I took care of them when their mommies put up welcome home signs for their daddies coming back from Afganistan after 12 months. Evangeline and Gabby are bestest friends and play so well together. The only spoilage of the night was 3 dirty diapers......What a Joy! All the play and no one waking me up in the night.....
I was the Wedding Coordinator for a teacher friend on March 22. That was fun to get into again.
Her husband called me the Drill Sargent of Weddings.....he is in the Army. I may think of getting back into that on a limited basis...might be nice for retirement.
I will be back more often.....
